CBP3

First, thanks for making maps for UT3. I just wonder, why are most CTF maps that are made by mappers (like those on the UT3 official forums and the one in this CBP3) always go big in size? For CTF without a translocator most released maps are useless. The Instagib CTF scene has very little maps to play with 10 players (5vs5).

There are new DM, TDM, vCTF, WAR maps released quite often, but there's still a big lack of competitive 5v5 CTF maps that are good for iCTF as well. A lot of maps are so big that it takes 20+ seconds just to get to the mid area and even more to get to the flag. Seeing instagib is a mutator where ONE hit means your enemy is dead, most CTF maps are not suited for this.

I wonder, some months ago when this site got up, there were discussions about Gauntlet, Eternal Caves and other UT3 maps (new and remakes) to come. I'm just wondering, do you CBP mappers have any competitive (instagib) CTF maps that are released anywhere in the upcoming weeks/month? The iCTF community needs some good maps to attract UT99, UT2004 players to join the UT3 community.

Currently only the following maps are suited for iCTF 5v5 and played in cups on clanbase.com etc :
CTF-Reflection
CTF-Turbo
CTF-Sprinta2008
CTF-Anfractuous_beta
CTF-Ultra

We hope that some good, competitive maps are coming so we can have more map choice in leagues, cups, etc.

Quite often I play newly released TDM maps or other UT3 maps and I see areas / layout parts that would really be nice to have in an UT3 CTF map. The ony problem is that most mappers that try to make CTF maps either don't play this gametype competitively or don't play the Instagib mutator so that the final maps are useless for competition; despite their work.

Any news about future iCTF maps?

There are proper remakes coming of: CTF-AreaN23 (KaMi), CTF-Vengeance (N30doc) & CTF-Sprinta (Me). These were all UT1 maps, and I know AreaN23 & Sprinta were played a lot in competition, including instagib. They may be in CBP or released separately, not sure yet. So you may find these will suit :)

Well, there is already a CTF-Sprinta version for UT3 which is played a lot in cups and competition.
But I'm looking forward to the new CTF maps.

we still dont know when volume 2 will come, we have a lot of maps in early stages (60-70% of the pack) and only some of them are almost done (those that cannot be released in volume 1) so probably we´ll need at least 2-3 months.
We let you know if we need more testers via the site, not atm since the maps are very wip :)

In most cases, if we need beta testers, we already have people lined up waiting to help that we will contact. If this situation changes we will let everyone know.

As far as updates - they will come when we (A) have something completed that is apparent in screenshots, (B) want to show the changes, and (C) have the time to create an update. Believe me, we're working hard to get as much done as we can, and we also do our best to show the community what's going on, but getting the pack completed is our primary focus.

I can tell you that there will definitely be a Volume 3 and that it will have some pleasant surprises in it.

Beyond that... you'll have to wait and see. ;)
